Located east of Wake County, Franklin County is statistically considered part of the Raleigh NC Metro area and is part of the Research Triangle.
Named for Benjamin Franklin, the county was formed in 1779. Louisburg, NC is the county seat.
Education in Franklin County
The Franklin County School system operates 16 schools throughout the county.
Students are served with modern curricula including "STEM" instruction, Career and Technical Education (CTE) and an Early College High School.
In addition to the county schools, Youngsville is home to the new Youngville Academy, a Charter School that opened in July 2015. There are also private school choices available.
